Conversations at the Swanstrom House.


Me: I vacuumed under the couch today.

Kevin: What did you find?

Me: What makes you think that I found something?

Kevin: Oh, You found something! Trust me!

Me: OK, I found 6 pencils....

Kevin: Sorry about that.

Me: And one Hello Panda.

Kevin: Sorry about that.

Me: And a whole lot of crumbs.

Kevin: And some pretzels?

Me: No, that was last time. I've vacuumed since pretzel day.

(One day after this conversation, the kids left the cushions so crooked that I had to straighten them and I found a glow stick and a quarter.)

First notable ferry story

Today while directing traffic up at the street, a guy handed me a "homemade watermelon lollipop". I thanked him and told him that he was amazing. There was no way I was going to eat it. When I came down to the ticket booths, I showed it to my co-worker, Jed. He said that he wanted it so I gave it to him and told him to let me know if he started to smell colors after he ate it. Apparently there were no side effects, at least not that he admitted to.

Bird of Prey Causes Traffic Jam

This little birdie landed in the traffic lane and decided to stop people from getting on the ferry. Tom tried to lure him over to the side with bits of hot dog, but the fledgling would have non of that nonsense. I tried to get him to step up onto a broom handle so that I could move him. He grabbed on with one foot, then changed his mind and attacked a guy who was trying to take his picture. Charlie shooed him over to the railing with the broom and we were able to get some cars through, until a minivan with a roof rack caught his eye and he flew onto the roof rack. The woman driving the minivan pleaded with him to please move because she really needed to go on the ferry. Just then Department of Wildlife woman showed up with a net and took him away.
